CEU Workshop No, No's

This information is for anyone interested in designing and facilitating a CEU, CE, CME event. I have learned through weekly programs that I speak, common errors occur. Whomever books the event is responsible for moving the event along. The speaker is booked for the time, the attendees need to arrive on time in order to get the continuing education hours they seek. Too often health-care professionals forget that they are required to attend the entire event to obtain their hours. Also, too often the company booking the event is responsible for keeping time for the event. The speaker has the authority to leave if they were only booked with the understanding that payment is made for the time frame, additional time requests by the agency/company overseeing the event can be asked to reimburse additionally for the speaker.

Where can I locate Continuing Education for LICDC's & CD Professionals?

The field of Chemical Dependency Treatment Professionals can be very confusing. Individual states as well as national organizations oversee the certification and/or licensure process. Many of the companies representing both state and national programs can be found on www.ContinuingEducationLinks.com. Another organization that has a large membership base of Chemical Dependence Professionals is the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. Again, their monthly programs are listed on www.ContinuingEducationLinks.com as well as are highlighted each month on their electronic newsletter.

For other resources, please contact the CEO, Kelsey Loushin @ Kelsey@ContinuingEducationLinks.com.

The "How To's" of Online CEU's

As more and more industries develop certification and licensure requirements, locating such programs, courses, etc. becomes challenging for the professionals seeking their hours. Since the inception of the Internet, opportunities have arisen for all employment including online/on-line program development. New companies offering online/on-line continuing education programs simplify the challenge of locating programs and allow the user to secure their courses in the comfort of their own home. The challenge for the online companies is to ensure their database is rich with programs to attract the user again and again. Many companies list their programs on www.ContinuingEducationLinks.com and on this blog as well.

Authors interested in developing programs must fulfill guidelines established by the online company who usually has the authority granted by the governing boards to list and sell such programs. The author usually needs to hold the licensure or certification of the board and have the ability to translate information to an online format. Although the authoring is usually time intensive, many authors develop multiple courses/programs and through placement of their courses on many different online directories are able to be compensated generously due to the residual effect of purchasing.

If you are interested in learning how to become an author, contact this writer/author kelsey@continuingeducationlinks.com to learn more.
